Measures approx 22 x 22 inches framed. An interesting late 19th-century American political campaign textile commemorating the 1884 Democratic presidential ticket of Grover Cleveland and Thomas A. Hendricks. Featuring finely detailed printed portraits of both candidates surrounded by patriotic imagery, including an American eagle, draped flags, and decorative foliage. A banner below the portraits bears Cleveland's famous political slogan, "A PUBLIC OFFICE IS A PUBLIC TRUST," while the eagle above is accompanied by "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Along the left edge is an advertising inscription for Deeley & Bread, dealers in dry goods and notions, suggesting the textile was produced as a promotional campaign piece for the business. Presented in a gilt frame with matting. An appealing example of 19th-century American political advertising and presidential campaign memorabilia, dating to the historic 1884 election.
