This wheel-thrown salt-glazed stoneware wax sealer jar was manufactured by the A.P. Donaghho pottery in Parkersburg, West Virginia, active circa 1870 to 1904. The jar features a cylindrical body that narrows slightly toward the base and a characteristic wide rim with a deep inner groove designed to be sealed with a lid and wax. The exterior is finished with a traditional grey salt glaze. The front of the jar is decorated with two lines of stenciled cobalt blue lettering. The top line reads A.P. Donaghho. and the bottom line reads Parkersburg, W.Va. The jar displays characteristic manufacturing features including minor surface pitting and kiln pops.
