A pair of miniature Native American Plains Indian moccasins, identified as Sioux (Lakota) origin, dating to the late 19th or early 20th-century Reservation Period. The moccasins are constructed from hand-sewn tanned hide. The vamps are decorated with seed beadwork in a geometric pattern utilizing black, white, and red beads. The outer edges of the soles are finished with a border of light blue seed beads. The moccasins are suspended from a rectangular beaded tab by two strands of translucent orange glass beads. The tab features patriotic iconography consisting of horizontal red and white stripes and a blue field containing the beaded letters U and S in white. This type of miniature beadwork was often produced during the Reservation Period as decorative items or lapel pins.
