This antique advertising nameplate is constructed of brass and features a distinctive arc-shaped profile. The piece identifies the Queen Insurance Co. of America, a firm incorporated in New York in 1891 as a subsidiary of the Royal Insurance Company of Liverpool. The text is etched into the brass surface and filled with black pigment. The top line reads QUEEN INSURANCE Co. in a serif font following the upper curve, with OF AMERICA centered below. This type of curved plate was typically utilized as decorative and identifying hardware for office furniture or specialized business equipment.
