This is a rectangular lithographed tin container designed for Green Turtle Cigars, featuring a hinged lid and a top-mounted wire bail handle. The tin is finished in a green and yellow-gold color scheme with ornate Victorian-style scrollwork borders. The front and back panels display a central oval cartouche with an illustration of a turtle smoking a cigar in a coastal setting, titled GREEN TURTLE CIGARS. One side panel is lithographed with the text Mild & Fragrant and a price point of 3 for 5¢. The opposite side panel features a decorative text block regarding the product's quality and value, ending with the phrase The Cigar that increased the value of a nickel to fifteen cents. One end panel identifies the manufacturers as GORDON CIGAR & CHEROOT CO. INC and PATTERSON BROS. TOBACCO CO. INC SUCCESSOR, located in RICHMOND VA. A circular stamp at the bottom of this panel reads FACTORY No. 100. The item dates to the early 20th century, approximately 1900 to 1920.
