An antique deep mixing or serving bowl, in the style of American potteries such as Red Wing or Western Stoneware. The piece is constructed from heavy stoneware or yellowware with a light buff-colored clay body visible at the unglazed foot. The form features flared sides divided into six molded vertical panels that extend down to a low, circular foot, topped with a wide, pronounced rolled rim. The exterior and rim are decorated with a traditional bi-color sponging technique in mottled orange and blue over a cream-colored glaze. The interior of the bowl features a solid cream glaze. The base of the bowl is unmarked, which is characteristic of many utilitarian pieces from the late 19th to early 20th century.
