This antique handheld vessel is fabricated from tinned sheet metal and features a tapered cylindrical body with a flared base for stability. The design includes a top-mounted hinged circular lid for filling and a long angled spout for dispensing oil or holding a wick. A robust, curved iron hanging hook is attached to the rear, which historically allowed the vessel to be secured to a miner's cap, wall timber, or belt. Items of this specific form are widely identified as coal miners' cap lamps, often referred to as teapot lamps or Sunshine lamps, though they were also commonly utilized as spout oilers for lubricating machinery in early automotive and industrial shops. The piece is unmarked with no visible manufacturer stamps, brand names, or patent dates. Dimensions: Not provided.
