The tray is sand-cast with a characteristic granular texture and features a single grooved projection extending from one side, serving as a handle or cigarette rest. The interior base displays raised relief lettering arranged in four lines reading H F SMALE & CO POTTSTOWN PA. The reverse side is equipped with two integral, tapered cylindrical feet that allow the piece to sit at a slight incline. Historically, H. F.
