This Chinese red lacquered bucket is constructed with traditional staved joinery, featuring vertical wooden panels held together by three dark-patinated metal hoops. The vessel displays a tapered, bulbous profile and is equipped with a fixed, arching overhead handle. The exterior surface is finished in a thick red lacquer. The base is flat and shows the end-grain of the vertical staves around a central wooden board. This form of container, often referred to as a wedding bucket or jihun titong, was historically part of a bride's dowry in Chinese culture. There are no visible maker's marks, characters, or inscriptions on the object.
