An expressive carved wooden shorebird in a feeding pose, its lowered head and slender bill balanced by a rounded body and tapered tail. Defined wings, incised feather details, and small ochre-painted eyes complement the dark gray-brown painted surface, worn in places to reveal the warm wood beneath. Circa early to mid 20th century. A sculptural example of bird carving with appealing surface character, presented on a custom iron stand.
