A Hopi Third Mesa wicker basketry plaque, traditionally known as a yungyupa. The circular tray is constructed using a wicker technique, featuring a distinctive rectangular central start with radiating ribs. The weave is composed of natural and dark-dyed vegetal fibers, likely rabbitbrush (chivut) and sumac. The decoration consists of a radiating geometric pattern with alternating dark and light wedge-shaped segments. The rim is finished with a continuous dark-dyed overcast stitch. Both the front and back faces show the tight construction and material coloration characteristic of Third Mesa weaving traditions.
