A hand-turned ceremonial wooden mallet created for use by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF). The object features a stout, cylindrical head with a recessed central waist and a long, tapering handle that terminates in a turned finial. The piece is finished in black paint with hand-painted yellow decorative elements. These accents include double yellow bands encircling both the top and bottom sections of the head, a single band at the junction where the handle meets the head, and two bands near the end of the handle. Painted on one side of the central waist is a yellow emblem consisting of three interlinked rings, the primary symbol of the IOOF representing the virtues of Friendship, Love, and Truth. No other letters, numbers, or maker marks are visible on the mallet.
