A handcrafted and hand-painted articulated skeleton figurine, or calaca, created in the tradition of Mexican folk art. The figurine is composed of several molded ceramic segments, including a skull, a ribcage, a hollowed pelvis, and individual limb sections. These elements are joined together with wire and small spherical beads to provide basic articulation. The skull is decorated with prominent red-rimmed eye sockets and a red nose, while the ribcage, hands, and feet feature hand-painted black accents to denote anatomical details and digits. A small cord loop is attached to the top of the skull for hanging display. No maker marks or signatures are visible on the piece.
Measures approx 15 inches in length. A few of the strings are broken so the skeleton is currently disjointed, but can be repaired with string.
