A large salt-glazed stoneware pitcher featuring a bulbous body, wide slightly flared neck, and an applied strap handle. The surface exhibits a standard salt-glaze finish with an orange peel texture. The piece is decorated with bold cobalt blue slip. The neck shows a vertical series of horizontal brushstrokes near the spout. The body is decorated with three stylized foliate motifs, commonly referred to as clovers or drooping flowers. This decorative style and form are highly characteristic of mid-19th century stoneware from the Mid-Atlantic United States, particularly potteries in Baltimore, Maryland, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. No maker marks, factory stamps, or capacity numbers are visible.
