The object is constructed from multicolored glass seed beads in red, white, and blue, sewn onto a red wool or felt textile backing. The design consists of alternating red and white horizontal stripes and blue cantons. Each blue canton contains a circular arrangement of thirteen white stars encircling the beaded date 1876. The ends of the belt are finished with brain-tanned leather or buckskin terminals, which feature hand-punched holes and leather thong ties for fastening. The construction utilizes traditional sewing techniques onto a trade cloth ground.
