This turned wooden bowl is decorated in the traditional Scandinavian Rosemaling style. The deep form features a stepped or galleried rim above a body that tapers to a small, integral circular foot. The interior and the upper portion of the exterior are finished in a dark forest green paint. A prominent central floral motif, suggestive of an acanthus leaf, is painted on the interior in shades of terracotta orange, ochre yellow, and black, accented with small clusters of white dots. Both the interior and exterior rims are decorated with repeating scrollwork and leaf patterns in white, yellow, blue, and dark brown. The lower exterior and base remain unpainted, revealing a dense, reddish-brown wood grain. There are no maker marks or signatures present on the piece.
