This miniature birch bark canoe is a souvenir from the Parsons Indian Trading Post in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. The piece is constructed from natural birch bark with hand-stitched lashed gunwales and reinforced bow and stern ends. The hull is marked with black stamped text reading Parsons Indian Trading Post Wisconsin Dells, Wis. on the port side and "DRIFTING ALONG" on the starboard side. A faint handwritten inscription, possibly reading Fred, is visible at the stern. Seated within the canoe is a souvenir figure featuring a painted composition face and a two-tone green and reddish-brown wool blanket. This craft is characteristic of regional souvenir items produced for the Great Lakes tourist market during the mid-20th century.
