A large three-gallon stoneware jug, configured as a water cooler or syrup jug, featuring an alkaline glaze characteristic of 19th-century Southern United States pottery traditions. The vessel is constructed with a tall ovoid body that tapers to a narrow neck and a flared rim. Two pulled strap handles are attached at the neck and shoulder. A circular bunghole is located at the front base to accommodate a spigot. The exterior is finished in a dark brown alkaline glaze with varied textures, including prominent glaze runs and drips. A horizontal band of darker glaze encircles the midsection. The surface displays several kiln kisses and glaze pops resulting from the firing process. An incised numeral 3 is located on the upper shoulder between the handles, denoting its capacity.
