This lot features two antique wooden tools from the 19th century. The first item is a small grain or malt shovel, hand-carved from a single piece of wood. It features a rectangular blade with rounded lower corners and a concave upper edge where it meets the handle. The face of the blade is decorated with a hand-incised six-pointed star motif, characteristic of North American or European folk art. The handle is tapered and detailed with four incised decorative rings near the terminal. The second item is an antique pastry crimper or dough cutter. It consists of a turned wooden handle with a rounded end and a serrated metal cutting wheel. The wheel is held within a metal housing and secured with a hexagonal nut. Both items exhibit a dark, organic patina developed from long-term use and age.
