This is a cast metal promotional ashtray for the industrial tool manufacturer Kraeuter and Co. Inc. of Newark, New Jersey. The oval-shaped vessel features a central embossed design of an eagle clutching a pair of pliers, serving as the company trademark. The rim is decorated with a foliate wreath border and includes three notched cigarette rests. The top face around the border is embossed with the text FORGED BY KRAEUTER and CO. INC. NEWARK, N.J. and HIGH GRADE TOOLS and FORGINGS. The interior base features embossed lettering that reads COMPLIMENTS OF KRAEUTER and CO., FOUNDED 1860, and NEWARK N.J. U.S.A. The construction is a heavy cast metal alloy, likely iron.
