Handcrafted World War II era trench art model of a Lockheed P-38 Lightning twin-engine fighter aircraft. The model is constructed from various military scrap materials including spent ammunition and sheet metal. The central fuselage and twin engine nacelles are fashioned from large-caliber bullet projectiles. The wings, horizontal stabilizers, and three-bladed propellers are hand-cut from sheet metal. The aircraft is elevated on a central support pillar made from a spent shell casing, which is soldered to a square metal base. The base features a circular perimeter of approximately 18 upright bullet projectiles soldered into place. The underside of the base is fitted with three small spherical feet and shows evidence of manual soldering. No maker marks, stamps, or inscriptions are visible on the object.
