This pair of cast metal plaques is identified by visual consensus as corner pocket face ornaments for a billiard table. Each plaque features a high-relief neoclassical male head with curly hair, framed by a broad, flaring, fluted foliate ruff. The lower portion of each ornament transitions into symmetrical scrollwork ending in a small central finial at the base. The second image reveals the hollow-cast construction and an integral, deep bowl-shaped receptacle on the reverse, designed to receive billiard balls at the pocket opening.
