This set of five graduated nesting blocks is constructed of heavy pasteboard covered with colorful chromolithographed paper. Each block features detailed illustrations on all sides, depicting animals, rural landscapes, and anthropomorphic characters common in late 19th and early 20th-century nursery literature. One notable face features the large letter Q and the title Queer Doings, showing an anthropomorphic frog in formal 18th-century attire riding a snail. Other blocks feature costumed cats titled Little Dancers, roosters labeled Cock-A-Doodle-Doo, a windmill, a horse, and various birds including parrots and a turkey. The blocks are designed to stack as a tower or nest within one another for storage.
