Attributed to Brush Pottery, this decorative ceramic planter is modeled in the form of a canoe with a hollow interior and raised bow and stern. The piece is crafted from glazed earthenware and features a variegated, blended finish. The exterior displays mottled tones of lime green and mustard yellow, accented by dark umber or black shading concentrated at the ends and along the upper rim. The interior is finished in a coordinating green glaze. This style of blended glaze and novelty form is characteristic of American art pottery produced during the mid-20th century. No maker's marks or backstamps are visible on the vessel.
