This utilitarian candle mold is constructed from tinned sheet iron, commonly referred to as tinware. The object consists of six cylindrical tubes arranged in two rows of three, designed for casting wax tapers. The top features a rectangular trough, or well, intended to facilitate the pouring of liquid wax and to catch any overflow. A corresponding rectangular base plate stabilizes the vertical tubes. A simple curved strap handle is hand-soldered to the side of the top trough and one of the vertical tubes. The construction is characterized by visible hand-soldered joints throughout. There are no maker's marks, stamps, or hallmarks visible on any surface of the item.
