This is a cylindrical utilitarian storage jar or crock, crafted from salt-glazed stoneware. The vessel features a simple upright form with a reinforced, rounded, and slightly flared rim. The exterior surface is finished in a light tan salt glaze exhibiting a prominent orange peel texture. The piece is undecorated and lacks any visible maker marks or capacity stamps. The flat, unglazed base displays concentric wire-cut marks indicative of being removed from a potter's wheel. This vessel resembles the form and finish of 19th-century snuff jars produced by various American regional potteries.
