This American stoneware fruit or preserve jar was manufactured by the Macomb Pottery Company of Macomb, Illinois. The piece features a cylindrical body with a slightly tapered foot and a threaded neck designed for a screw-top closure. The exterior body is finished in a light cream-toned Bristol-type glaze, while the shoulder, neck, and interior are coated in a contrasting dark brown slip glaze. The underside of the base features an impressed three-line circular mark that reads MACOMB / POTTERY / CO., ILL.
