This American molded stoneware pitcher features a relief-molded Native American profile, often referred to in historical patterns as an Indian Head motif. The central decoration on both sides consists of a profile of a figure wearing a feathered headdress within a circular medallion. The surrounding body of the vessel is embellished with a raised lattice or grid pattern. The pitcher is constructed in a cylindrical form with a flared rim, a wide spout, and a prominent rope-twist style handle. It is finished in a cream-colored Bristol-style glaze that shows characteristic blue-gray pooling within the molded details and around the upper rim. While this specific pattern was produced by several Midwestern potteries in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Co., no manufacturer mark is visible on this example.
