This antique candle mold is an example of 19th-century American tinware, constructed from tinned sheet iron with hand-soldered joints. The top of the mold consists of a shallow rectangular reservoir tray designed to catch excess wax during the pouring process, while the bottom is supported by a flared rectangular base. Each tube tapers to a small hole at its terminal point for the placement of a wick. Two scrolled strap handles are attached to the shorter sides of the upper tray.
