The piece features a central cylindrical tube with a vertical slot that contains an adjustable thumb-slide lifter, designed to raise a candle as it burns down. The tube is mounted to a wide, dished drip pan base with a rolled rim. A simple ring-form finger handle is soldered to the base. The construction demonstrates period techniques including rolled edges and soldered seams. No maker's marks or inscriptions are visible on the object.
