A lead-glazed earthenware jar of slightly ovoid, cylindrical form, attributed to the pottery region of Galena, Illinois. The vessel features a flared, rounded rim and is finished in a characteristic mottled olive-green and ochre lead glaze. The surface displays dark speckling and minor pitting typical of 19th-century regional production. A single incised mark in the shape of a horseshoe or inverted U is located on the mid-body. The unglazed base retains a small, rectangular paper label with the hand-printed inscription GALENA / $ 475.-. The underlying reddish-orange earthenware body is visible at the rim and base.
