This late 19th to early 20th-century Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) souvenir beadwork piece is fashioned in the form of a horseshoe. The item is constructed on a cream-colored textile base with intricate raised beadwork decoration. The words GOOD and LUCK are spelled out vertically on the left and right sides respectively, utilizing dark purple glass bugle beads. The top center features a stylized sunburst motif executed in amber glass bugle and seed beads, flanked by botanical elements. The inner and outer edges of the horseshoe are bordered with rows of amber-colored seed beads. A looped hanging strand of clear glass seed beads is attached to the top arch. The bottom of the form is finished with a dense fringe of amber glass seed bead strands. This style of beadwork, commonly known as a whimsey, was frequently produced for the Victorian-era tourist trade.
