An antique Japanese porcelain charger attributed to Yamatoku, dating to the late Meiji or Taisho period. The central field is decorated with a vibrant yellow famille jaune ground featuring two long-tailed pheasants perched on a gnarled flowering branch amidst blossoming peonies and plum flowers. The motif is executed in polychrome overglaze enamels in shades of pink, blue, green, and red. The rim is finished with a wide black-ground border containing a continuous scrolling vine and floral pattern. The underside is finished in a plain white glaze with an unglazed foot rim and lacks any visible maker's marks or reign marks. A small circular gold-toned inventory sticker with handwritten numbers 2450 is applied to the front rim at the 9 o'clock position.
