This colorless flint glass fluid lamp is an example of mid-19th-century American glassmaking, dating approximately from 1840 to 1860. The design is characteristic of the period and attributed to prominent glasshouses such as the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company or the New England Glass Company. The font is blown-molded, featuring a decorative pattern composed of a lower band of diamond point facets positioned beneath a vertically ribbed upper section. The font is joined to the base via a glass wafer. The base is constructed of pressed glass in a stepped hexagonal form, with the underside showing a deep, circular molded recess and no visible pontil mark. The top of the font is fitted with a fixed brass collar designed to hold a burner.
