A Native American Hupa twined basket bowl from the Klamath River region. The vessel is hand-woven using a close-twining technique with a conifer root foundation. The decorative elements are rendered in a half-twist overlay using bear grass or dyed vegetable fiber, creating a repeating geometric band of diagonal stair-step and zig-zag motifs. The bowl features a reinforced braided rim and a flat base with a radiating spiral weave. Staining to bottom of basket. Measures 5 inches in diameter.
