This Native American Plateau region textile, identified as a Nez Perce corn husk bag, is constructed using a flat-twining technique. The bag is composed of a plant fiber warp, likely hemp or jute, with a corn husk ground and decorative false embroidery executed in dyed commercial wool or yarn. The bag features two distinct geometric compositions. One side presents two rows of large X-shaped motifs in dark red and black, interspersed with small horizontal rectangles in green and orange, and finished with a dark horizontal band at the base. The reverse side features four rows of stylized, stepped hourglass or H-shaped motifs in blue, green, and orange. The construction is a flat, rectangular pouch with an open top. Measures approx 11 x 10 inches.
