This hand-coiled and burnished earthenware vessel is a polychrome jar featuring a globular body with a wide mouth and a recessed, finished rim. The exterior surface is decorated with hand-painted slips in shades of deep red-brown, buff, grey, and salmon. The intricate decorative scheme consists of stylized geometric and zoomorphic-inspired motifs, including elongated feather or wing elements and stepped terraced patterns often associated with indigenous iconography. A rectangular block on the lower portion contains a circular eye motif. All designs are delineated with fine, thin lines in a light cream slip. The construction and decoration are consistent with Southwestern Pueblo pottery traditions. No maker marks, signatures, or factory stamps are visible on the exterior of the jar.
