This vintage industrial educational and promotional display board was produced by J. Wiss and Sons Co. of Newark, New Jersey. The item consists of a lithographed heavy cardstock board with seven physical steel shear components attached to illustrate the manufacturing process. The board is divided into seven distinct stages: a high carbon crucible steel blade blank, an unbreakable forged steel frame, the frame and blade ready for welding, the components welded together, a tempered blade with a hardened cutting edge, a ground blade showing the sharpened edge, and a finished shear blade that has been polished and nickel plated. The display features large orange block lettering at the top and manufacturer information at the bottom. Each metal part is secured to the board using wire ties. The reverse side includes an integrated cardboard easel for tabletop display and a twine loop for wall mounting.
