This 19th century Osage beaded pipe bag is constructed from brain-tanned deer hide and features two distinct panels of traditional lazy-stitch beadwork. One panel is composed of a forest green ground decorated with a central yellow and red stepped diamond flanked by blue and red diamonds and stylized red trident motifs. The opposite panel consists of a yellow ground with two light blue diamonds surmounted by black and red crosses, flanking a central red trident symbol. A vertical strip of light blue beadwork with multi-colored geometric blocks runs down one side seam. The bag terminates in a long, hand-cut fringe. A thin hide suspension cord with small brass-toned beads is attached near the throat. No maker marks or signatures are visible.
