A Native American Lakota Sioux umbilical cord fetish crafted in the form of a turtle. The object is constructed from brain-tanned hide and features extensive lane-stitch beadwork using glass seed beads in a palette of orange, yellow, green, and red. The turtle carapace is decorated with a central yellow cross motif on an orange field, framed by red and green banded borders. The head is beaded in yellow with blue glass bead eyes. Four limbs are formed by leather thongs, each terminating in dark metal cone tinklers and yellow and blue glass beads.
